The Olympus DS4000 is No longer in production, now we have the NEW and Improved DS5000!
We wanted to answer a few questions some of you might be wondering about the new model and what it takes to upgrade from the DS 4000 Recorder.
I can first start by telling you that the new software and recorders are all backwards compatible! All the new software and hardware will work with the old models and version 4 software.
That way you can upgrade 1 at a time and not worry about compatibility issues. Also! Anyone with version 4 is entitled to a FREE upgrade to version 5! So that means, when you buy your first DS5000 you can take that software CD and upgrade everyone in your office for FREE! The upgrade process creates a BRAND NEW Serial number for your new upgrade. This works for Transcription as well as Dictation using the same CD.

The Ds4000 is a great machine, but not everything is perfect the 1st time, The DS5000 has new and improved features that give you better quality recordings and a more sturdy machine that will give you years of service! The slide switch was redesigned with the thumb in mind, also reinforced for those who dictate a lot. Also extended recording time with 2 memory card slots and a new recording format that is compressed and easy to email.
New Software with greater capabilities! The Version 5 software allows you to control more settings and is also compatible with the DS4000. The version 4 software never allowed the user to change device settings. With the version 5 upgrade you are even able to customize your buttons!
